8 ideas to improve your business around performing or teaching

Everyone likes to improve. Sometimes all it takes is an idea, or a small change. Often it's easier than you'd think.

  1. Start with your skill
This is the most obvious one. The better your skill at teaching and playing, the more your reputation will grow and the more people will be willing to become a student of yours, to attend your concerts, read articles you write, buy your recordings, books or compositions. Get a mentor, read as many books as you can, find out from people you respect what made them awesome and practice, practice, practice!
  2. Sharpen up your image
Confidently assert your style and message with a professional look and style. Studies have shown people directly associate the quality of products or services with how good your "branding" looks, in particular your website. Your personal branding extends from your business cards, fliers and ads right up to your website and even the clothes you wear! If you don't have a website, drop us a message! Websites are our business.
  3. Inspire your students or audience
Here's a great way to really connect with your potential audience or fans (for performers), or your students (for teachers). Write small articles and share interesting tidbits on your web site. You can create support material so between lessons or performances, your website can provide students and others more opportunity to be engaged, and direction for inspiration. This will help your business by bringing more interested people back to your website, and in turn to your teaching studio, to buy your published works or to see you perform
  4. Showcase your thoughts
Having a blog of your thoughts or news online can let others in the community know what you think, and add to the community. You can connect with the fluting community in a very real way. The more people who do this, the better for us all, but especially for you. This will give the people who love to hear your thoughts get a feel for what's important to you, which in turn helps your business by gaining more interest. Your fans will share your page, and more people will look at your work.
  5. Display your talent
Engage other people in your teaching and performing by sharing snippets of music, photography, video and links to other websites of things you find beautiful, interesting, or inspiring. This is a great way to showcase the full range of your talents which have obvious continuous beneficial effects for your business. You can put this stuff on your website.
  6. Sell products
If you're not already doing so, create unique products for your audience: you could sell prepared lessons, e-books, print books, compositions or recordings of your work. You'd be right if you guessed a website is the best way to do that these days.
  7. Keep connected
A website is always online, even when you're busy, asleep or away. If you don't have one, get in touch with us! We love to build websites for people.
  8. Get an amazing business card, brochure and website
Easily let new clients or students contact you - collect interest while you sleep. A website can be your own personal secretary. As discussed above, if you want a new website, brochure or business card, let us know. We're designers by trade, and we love to work with flutists to help them achieve their goals.
